The average reader, reading at a speed of 300 WPM, would take approximately 4 hours and 18 minutes to read I Love Capitalism!: An American Story.
Now the problem with that is, that it took Ken Langone eight years to get from $82.50 a week, bringing his own lunch to a six figure salary. And that is not just true for him. It’s true for most of the successful people or did you know that Warren Buffett only became a billionare with the age of 56, making 99% of his wealth after his 50th birthday. And Mark Zuckerberg and the Google guy’s also didn’t get rich over night. It took them over a decade to build their companies, which is fast, but also an exception.
Now set this into perspective. If you read a book in 4 hours and 18 minutes, you have to make yourself very aware of the fact that psychology is playing its tricks on you. You might don’t even realize that because this happens in your unconscious mind, but it happens.
Now, if you don’t activitly tell your mind that the real time of the two sentences you just read is actually a much longer time period, you start to cultivate the misbelieve that this can be achieved in much shorter periods of time. 4 hours and 18 minutes perhaps. But this is not true.
